If I had a quarter for every time a student told me, “I just can’t seem to get myself focused,” I could buy the Chicago Bulls.

Getting and staying focused on the “right” things isn’t just a student issue, it’s a societal issue. Either we find ourselves not being focused at all, or we find ourselves focusing on the wrong things. I call this “majoring in the minors.”

Preventing Student Burnout

Unfortunately for most college students, burnout is cruel reality. From heavy course loads to unyielding professors (no e-mail messages from my students please), burnout seems to be an inevitable occurrence in our lives. However, Kent Crockett, author of “The 911 Handbook” offers the following biblical advice and steps for effectively dealing with and preventing burnout. I would suggest that you apply these principles to your life in order to “keep the fire burning.”

And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.” (Galatians 6:9)
